2010 Model Kimberley Kampers Design Summary with NEW Features

Here is a summary of the changes and new features for the 2010 Model. (Platinum shown in image above)
The positive feedback on the Kwik Awning released in October 2008, was quickly followed by requests for canvas mesh walls for this awning. There were design issues of the need for a valance if you are going to “hang” walls from an awning and when extended, there are only 2 vertical poles on the ground.
Both of these issues have been overcome with the new Platinum Kwik Awning and Walls Package. The outer edge has several zips sewn in and this edge is carefully scalloped to keep the tension on without a valance. In addition, customer feedback was for a lightweight walls pack that gave more wind protection and privacy rather than designed for a 40 knot heavy gale. The result is the introduction of plastic “clears” sourced from the marine industry as outer window covers. When these are down, the wind can still be blowing and from the inside, you can see the view.
The canvas chosen is the NEW G2 product developed for the MYCUBE. This is only 215gm/sq m so it packs up very well. You can now use the Kwik Awning with the ends folded under for overnight stays. When your trip includes the windy WA, you can fold out the Kwik Awning and zip on 1, 2 or all 3 walls, Velcro them together vertically and you have protection. The draught skirt and front A frame wall can be added for 360 degree protection!
The patented Kwik Awning comes as an updated version that is called the “Platinum Kwik Awning” and has an integrated zip and integrated Dual LED Flexistrips that are 1m long each.
It can still be used without any vertical poles or pegs, or it can be opened out in full as shown in the photo with just 2 vertical poles and guy ropes. It is 6.7m long and 2m wide
The new lightweight canvas mesh walls for the Kwik Awning are in 3 zip-on sections.
At each end is an “L shaped” section with a middle door section. They Velcro vertically together.
The 2 “L shaped” sections have one extra large window with midge mesh plus a CLEAR covering on the outside.
The complete canvas mesh wall package uses ONLY 2 vertical poles and guy ropes and sets up in minutes. The draught skirt is the same as previously used and has no change.

All-weather window on the drivers side with air flow for a hot night.
The design of the NEW all-weather window is to allow it to be left “open” which means unzipped fromthe inside during rain. The hood design has side protection which is a must for all weather with side winds. To compensate for the loss in airflow, a powered super quiet maglev fan is installed in a pocket at the apex of the tent under the all weather awning on the inside. The 12V power cable returns down the bow to a switch in the 6 way switch panel.
By extracting air from the apex, any heat build-up is removed.
The Super Quiet Powered Vent uses a maglev fan that is fitted to a removable pouch and can be sealed off if required.
ALL Weather Window Awning will mean that you can leave camp with the inside window cover down for ventilation without fear of a rain getting inside the Kamper

The 2010 Kamper is now lighter and easier to close.
The heavy profile “Celuka” bed base has been replaced with a lightweight alloy composite. The bed profile now has tapered ends that allow easier movement of the bows in closing. In the Platinum model the centre bed frame section has an insulating layer for improved finish with the Dual individual controlled membrane heater. The controls are above the bed near the LED stalk lights. The photo shows the optional diesel space heater on the lower RHS.
On the Drivers side under the mattress edge is a completely sealed safe. It is fitted with an individual keyed lock rated at 35 kgs sustaining force.
Programable timer for membrane under mattress heater.
NEW Features Outside the Kamper
Every 2010 Model Delta Gullwing fitted Kamper has a 20W solar panel as standard together with a 4 stage solar controller.
The 4th stage of the solar controller is for “equalisation” of the on board batteries.
This panel will constantly trickle charge the batteries and the controller will keep them in optimum condition if the unit is stored in an area with reasonable light.

The eco-camper™ 80W solar suitcase is standard with the Platinum Model Kamper.
These 2 x 40W panels are hinged together for ease of setup. Instead of fitting the controller in the suitcase itself, it uses the same 4 stage controller as the 20W panel located in the Kamper close to the batteries.
The benefit is that the long 10m trailing cable from the solar panels will not impact performance. The voltage drop in this cable is takem up BEFORE the controller.
For the Platinum Model, the 2x40W Solar suitcase stores INSIDE the front Gullwing lid
(photo shows lid open “up in the air” with solar panels inside.)
The storage rack is only available for the eco-camper panels as it is a very tight fit and cannot be guaranteed to work for other panels.
As a result, the mounting frames and supplied in the Platinum as part of this model.
This gives better security and leaves the top of the Gullwing free for carrying firewood.
NEW Featured Accessory which is an Option for any Gullwing Model Kamper
The 2010 Gullwing Accessory (can be added to prior year Delta Gullwing Models) is the Utility Drawer and extended floor. The utility drawer is a locking drawing with the same style closures used on the rear tail gate. It is lightweight alloy construction. (the locks are not keyed but the press “southco” locks)
Above the drawer, the Starboard floor now extends out past the top edge but inside the Gullwing Lid when it closes. There are 3 Alloy Tie Down tracks: One at end of floor, one inside at the top of the back wall and one vertically on the side. It is an option to any of the Gullwing Models and can be fitted where there is no Diesel Hot Water (shown on the LHS)
The canvas mesh walls will be folded differently to pack ontop of this extended floor.

Retrofit means it can most probably be added to prior models of Kampers.
For Gullwing items, it would need to be a prior Gullwing Model.
New Canvas Latouts (Note existing layouts still apply so these are shown as well)

It is timely to do a reminder on the quality of the canvas we use:
Dynaproofed CanvasTM
The DynaproofedTM production process ensures the chemical formulation is penetrated into the yarns of the base fabric. This is achieved by fully immersing the fabric into a padding bath and then sqeezing the formulation into the fibres. This system also allows the fabric to "breathe" as the woven base fabric is not sealed by a coating.
Waterproofed
The Dynaproofed process guarantees to be waterproof with every batch of canvas being produced to exacting standards and tested for Hydrostatic pressure as well as Cone Test leakage.
UV & Rot/Mildew Resistant
The DynaproofedTM chemical formulation also combines for resistance against degration caused from harmful UV, as well as resistance against bacteria, algae and fungi growth.
Breathable
While the canvas guarantees to be waterproof, the technically superior production system for the DynaproofedTM Canvas fabrics ensures the chemical formulation is dully immersed into the base fabric and squeezed into the fibres. Unlike coated fabrics, this exclusive DynaproofedTM process allows for the unique fabric attributes of both waterproofness and breathability therefore reducing the possibility of condensation forming inside the tent.
Construction and Dimension stability
DynaproofedTM fabrics are chemically treated to remove residual weaving lubricants. During this preparation treatment the fabric is also processed to control the shrinkage and dimensional stability of the canvas and to allow for "take-up" of the seams after sewing.
Other Inferior Coated Canvas
Condensation beads tend to gather due to sealed surface of the canvas. White unprotected yarns also appear on fabric edges and seams after cutting and sewing. The longetivity of the coating is also compromised by abrasion as the formulation is scraped onto the fabric surface only.
